Artzap.com was started in the spring of 1998 for the purpose of offering the images from the well known paintings of fine artist Peter Shulman, imprinted on products. to the art loving public. The company was successful from its first days online with a product line including T-shirts, tote bags, tin boxes and coffee mugs. These items were imprinted with 15 of the images from paintings that had attracted attention while hanging in museums.

In early 2000 we were approached by several educational institutions and museums who wanted to reproduce the images from Peter Shulman paintings they owned on products for their gift shops. This was the start of Peter Shulman Licensing which has grown today into an operation with over 500 current license agreements covering the imprinting and production of more than 40 different products with images from over 100 Peter Shulman paintings by corporations, marketing companies, nonprofit organizations both secular and non-secular, music companies, publishing companies, educational institutions and individuals almost exclusively located in the United States and Canada. The trust has also entered into cooperative agreements with several other licesing entities. We feel that the success of these images on the market is due in many cases to the family values expressed in the work. In 2002 Peter put all his copyrights in a trust and the Peter Shulman Licensing Trust came into being. The granting of licenses is now facilitated by a small board of trustees.

The licenses generally engender royalties for products sold for profit. The items produced by educational entities, non-profits and individuals for publicity purposes or charity have no royalties attached in most cases. The only thing we insist on is accreditation of the works covered by these licenses.

There are now so many companies producing products that for Artzap.com to continue doing so would have us competing agaist ourselves. For that reason Artzap.com is no longer in the retail business. The remaining stock will be disposed of thru charitable contributions and limited sale to interested parties. Artzap.com itself will remain the entity under which limited edition prints of Peter Shulman's works on canvas are made and marketed. The ownership of Artzap.com has been transferred to the licensing trust which will sell or retain the company at the discretion of the board.
